The social groups represented in my final product 'The Last Rose' are a range of social groups because the target audience for my film is a range between 15-30 year olds. This age group represents a number of different social groups; school, college, younger workers, university students and full time workers.
I believe that my opening sequence represents these types of people, as it is not childish, it is a scary thriller, creating a mystery which is very complex needing someone who can understand what is going on. The pictures I have used are ones showing the growing up stage of a boy and a girl therefore they are realistic as they are pictures of my brother of his baby pictures into my boyfriend’s pictures of him now and pictures of me when I was a baby to my age now. This I believe lets the audience relate to the pictures, as they are a real person, which anyone can relate to. Using names within my final piece also creates social groups of ‘Hannah’s’ as when you see your name produced in something you feel as sense of connection to the film, which creates another social group to represent.
We decided to not include dialogue in this opening sequence until the last section of the film as we thought it was more effective this way, as with the soft music in the background gives them a chance to look through the pictures and to get a grasp with what has happened. We used a soft music of a violin to create a tension, this music could relate to any age.
This is a positive representation as there is nothing negative going on in my film; it shows the kind of genre I am aiming my film at throughout my film.
